Athens Area Weekend Roundup! July 12-14th

Annual Cottage Classic Golf Tournament: Join us for the Annual Cottage Classic Golf Tournament, taking place at the picturesque UGA Golf Course. This event will be held on Saturday, July 13th, starting at 7:30 am. Whether you’re a novice or seasoned golfer, everyone is welcome to participate. Indulge in a delightful morning with breakfast and beverages served right on the course, followed by a catered lunch. Registration begins at 7:30 am, and tee-off starts at 8:15 am. Classic City Car: Mark Bugg’s extensive car collection, started by his late father George C. Bugg, features a diverse range of classic cars from pre-war Fords to post-war Chevrolets, including unique finds like a 1948 Lincoln Continental once owned by Motown Spinners singer Philippé Wynne. This event, held in conjunction with Bigger Vision, a nonprofit aiding Athens’ homeless population, will feature a silent auction, vendor booths, food trucks, and a family-friendly play area. All proceeds support Bigger Vision’s mission to provide nightly accommodations and essential services. Join us at the Classic City Car Show on Saturday, July 13th, at the Classic Center. Admission is $20; children under 12 enter free.

Family Movie Night: At Oconee Library this Saturday come over to Wire Park and watch a free family friendly movie at Oconee Library starting at 6pm.

Life Sucks Theater Performance: Catch the play “Life Sucks,” based on Chekhov’s Uncle Vanya, featuring a talented cast of local comedians. Performances will be held on Friday, July 12 at 7:00 pm, and on July 13–14 at 5:00 pm. Tickets are $12, and more information can be found at www.flyingsquidcomedy.com.

Firefly Discovery Ride: Join the Firefly Discovery Ride on Saturday, July 13 at 10:00 am for a fun outdoor adventure with Trails and Open Space staff. Artist Talk: Join us for an Artist Talk with folk art painter Sherre Watwood on Saturday, July 13 at 11:00 am. Sherre will discuss her artistic heritage, inspirations, and techniques. This event is free! For more details, visit www.wintervilleccgallery.com.

Adult Poetry Workshop : Join the Adult Poetry Workshop on Saturday, July 13 at 11:00 am, led by Athens Poet Laureate Mikhayla Smith. Oak Grove Animal Center Grand Opening : Join us for the Grand Opening at Oak Grove Animal Clinic on Saturday, July 13 at 12:00 pm.
