Corcoran Classic’s Guide to Eating out in Athens

This month we come to you with our agent’s favorites places to eat out in Athens! Whether its a week night and you need a casual meal out, or maybe its date night, and you need a special meal… Our agents know Athens and they are excited to share with you all their favorites.

Week Night Favorites!

My favorite to-go dinner is Mama Ning’s. I love anything eggplant that she makes. The dumplings are my favorite too! Our family will fight over them. Mama Ning’s is especially my favorite thing to eat on a rainy day – so comforting! http://www.mamaningsthai.com/online-ordering/’

Lomo Saltado from Cali-n-Titos, we frequent the 5 points location but the east side is really fun as well. I like to get chicken and steak mixed. My husband goes for the Cubano Especial (chicken) and I almost always ask him for a couple (more like several) bites!

When it comes to week night meals, eating out we go for La Parilla http://www.lapa.us/ or Automatic Pizza https://autopizzaathens.com/. In terms of take-out, we enjoy Cali-n-Titos or Ahi Poke https://www.ahihibachi.com/.

Garlic and white pepper dish, it comes with chicken, tofu, beef, shrimp, or mixed veggies! I go medium heat. From Mama Nings in Watkinsville! http://www.mamaningsthai.com/online-ordering/’

We are homebodies and like getting food to-go and watching movies at home. So our casual favorite is truly based on how well the food holds up in a to-go delivery situation. Because of this we love Athens Wok for casual, easy nights! http://athenswokga.com/
Special mention – Our friends have started doing a pop up at Old Pal twice a month, its called MouthFeel. We had date night there on Monday night and it was one of the best meals we’ve ever had in Athens. Michi’s is another local pop up (they pop up at the Little Kings Markets once a month) and I think is putting out incredible food.

Puma Yu’s for a date night! The whole fried fish is a show stopper and they always have the coolest cocktails and ambiance. Follow up with a drink from Hidden Gem (the new cocktail bar off Barber). Vibes are immaculate! https://pumayus.com/

My favorite special occasion meal is at The National. Tom and I love to sit at the bar and order a round of small plates (including dessert!) and a special seasonal cocktail. We like the energy at the bar and bumping into friends while also having some quality time together to catch up. We have so many restaurants for special occasions to choose from – other favorites are Five and Ten, SeaBear, and ExPat! https://www.theexpatathens.com/

I really enjoy the shrimp tacos from 329 Bar and Grill in the Hartwell area. It has a great ambiance and wait staff!

For date night we love Seabear. We try to stray from it, but happy hour oysters + awesome cocktails + amazing service and always good sized portions. https://seabearoysterbar.com/

My Alma Mater 5&10 is where we go to get impressed (and sometimes pleasantly puzzled) by the food. Seabear is a close second to just try a bunch of oysters and nice wines. https://www.fiveandten.com/
