Tennessee vs Georgia Game Day Weekend
Its a very busy weekend here in The Classic City! This weekend, Athens’ Georgia Bulldogs take on the Tennesse Volunteers, one of the most anticipated games in this College Football season. ESPN’s College Game Day crew, sponsored by Home Depot, will be in Athens for the game, so anticipate heavy traffic as fans flock to watch this game. Guardians of the Jukebox: Get ready to rewind to the ‘80s with Guardians of the Jukebox! This high-energy tribute band is bringing MTV’s iconic pop, rock, new wave, and new romantic hits to life at Paloma Park. Doors open at 8 p.m., with the show starting at 8:30 p.m., featuring a special performance by League of Step, benefitting their cause. 9-5: The Musical: Ready for a night of laughter, empowerment, and toe-tapping tunes? UGA Theatre is bringing Dolly Parton’s iconic music to life with 9 to 5: The Musical! Follow three bold and brilliant coworkers as they team up to turn the tables on their overbearing boss. With showtimes on Nov. 14–15 and 20–22 at 8 p.m., plus matinees on Nov. 17 and 24 at 2 p.m., there’s plenty of chances to catch this delightful performance. Saturday Events!
University of Georgia Bulldogs vs Tennessee Volunteers: One of the biggest games of the season will be played this Saturday in Athens’ own Sanford Stadium. Kick-off is at 7:30, but Bulldog fans will begin to arrive into Athens for tailgating hours before.
Places to watch the game from: Wire Park in Watkinsville has a large outdoor screen, with restaurants and a brewery, providing a great space to watch the game (with fun activities to keep the kids busy!). Creature Comforts is always a good go-to for finding game day fun, with large screens, beer on tap, and food trucks, its a good place to head to if you want to be near the stadium while watching the game. Georgia Theater Rooftop is also a good place to watch the game, there are great views of the downtown area, and lots of fun drinks! Paloma Park is an outdoor bar and restaurant with a jumbotron in a fun and lively setting.
